From Saturday 12 April, the Riverside Science Centre will present 'Hidden Life', an exhibition built around a newly developed microscope that uses an extremely powerful laser. Unlike conventional electron microscopes, which frequently struggle to capture very small proteins, this instrument produces remarkably clear images of structures that were once impossible to see. During a short film shown every hour, visitors can learn how researchers use the device to examine the tiny molecular machines that operate inside living cells. The exhibition has been designed for adults and for children aged eight and over, and it will remain open until the end of September.
Hands-on Workshops for Families
Our weekend workshops offer families the opportunity to use simple microscopes and to discover how scientists study living cells. Each session lasts 45 minutes and is led by a trained guide who explains every step in plain language. Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Because places are limited to twenty people per session, early booking is strongly recommended. All equipment is provided, and no previous experience is required.
